ITHACA, NY - The Hartwick Men's Indoor Track & Field team kicked off the 2020 season today at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open hosted by Cornell University.

Sophomore
Omar Nelson (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) finished seventh in the 800m in a time of 2:16.17 and eighth in the mile with a time of 5:05.06. Sophomore
Sean Waltman (Sayre, PA/Athens) finished ninth in the 60m hurdles in a time of 11.05. Waltman also finished tenth in long jump with a mark 5.01 meters.Â

Senior captain
Nate Benjamin (Vestal, NY/Vestal) placed ninth in the 60m in a time of 7.88, just tenths of a second from a new personal best, and ninth in long jump with a new personal best mark 6.03 meters. Freshman
Chisomaga Emeh (Lagos, Nigeria/Jesuit Memorial College) finished tenth in the 60m in a time of 8.06, fifteenth in the 200m in 26.98, and eleventh in long jump with a mark 4.68 meters. Â Â

Mark Garceau (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) placed fourth in 3000m in 10:09.22. Junior captain
Harry Helinski (Johnsburg, NY/Johnsburg) was eighth in the 800m in a time of 2:18.81 and ninth in the mile in 5:05.83. Freshman
Ethan Lee (Tillson, NY/John A. Coleman) took ninth in the 800m in 2:36.34.

The men's 4x800m relay team composed of Nelson, Helinski, Garceau and Lee finished first in a time of 10:54.37.

The Hawks will next be in action on Saturday January 18 at the Utica College Invitational in Utica, NY.
