Last summer was our 40th Anniversary of Hartwick College Competitive Swim Camps, 40 consecutive years without missing a beat. Now we are faced with the cancellation of our camp for the very first time here in the summer of 2020 due to COVID-19.
Sunday, July 5th would have been the start of our 2020 Session I Swim Camp here at Hartwick with the ending date of our third session Saturday, July 25. We would have been focused on streamlines and turns on Sunday, Freestyle on Monday, Backstroke on Tuesday, Breaststroke and going to the lake on Wednesday, Butterfly on Thursday, IM and turns on Friday followed by starts, review and our camp meet on Saturday. I miss this experience with my campers very much as well as with my camp staff.
During our camp sessions we provided specialty groups covering important topics such as Nutrition, Understanding Workouts, Video Stroke Review, Dryland-Functional Movement, Strength Training, Psychology-Mental Training, Goals, Focus, etc. My staff and I would like to help fill your swim camp void this summer during this time of self-isolation, social distancing, and facilities being closed by offering a series of
FREE virtual Zoom swim camp sessions. These sessions will include a 40-minute Zoom session twice a week on
Monday and Thursday @ 7:00 PM beginning on Monday, July 27 and ending on Monday, August 10. Both myself and another coach will be on each Zoom session so that we can be thorough in our delivery and information provided. Hartwick College Competitive Swim Camp cares about you and is offering these
FREE virtual swim camp sessions to help you stay engaged with the sport you love by helping you get back into the "swim of things" so you can become the best you can be..."Our Passion is Your Potential!"
Here is a list of the interesting topics and the date they will be covered and some additional information. As with our in-person camps, sessions are suitable for ages 8-18.
- Monday, July 27
·
Getting back in the pool - what to expect/what to focus on
·
Goal setting after the long break - being realistic and combining effort + result
- Thursday, July 30
·
Nutrition 2020 an honest look at what we eat, why we eat it and making hard changes
- Monday, August 3
·
Being Mentally Tough and a Focused look at the world around us and how it affects a swimmer
- Thursday, August 6
·
Strength Training and Dryland routines without a gym
- Monday, August 10
·

Each session will include a 20-25-minute chat followed by 5-10 minutes of questions and a 5-minute summary. I believe this format is something campers can identify with, and the topics to be covered are important to review before swimmers get back in the water.
Below is a link to a registration form for you to complete that will provide me with some information as well as a place for you to let me know which Zoom camp sessions you plan to participate in.
