CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hartwick Men's Outdoor Track and Field team started their 2023 campaign at Hamilton College on Saturday in the Hamilton College Continental Invitational at the Pritchard Track. The Hawks joined the competition with 11 other teams.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
On The Track
- The quartet of Patrick Conteh (Salisbury, MD.), Quran Best (Bronx, N.Y.), Josh Worrell (White Plains, N.Y.), and Kevin Mason (Galloway, N.J.) finished 5th in the Men's 4x100m relay in a time of 45.33 seconds.
- Conteh, Worrell, and Best would later run in the 200m. Conteh finished 3rd in his heat and 19th overall with a time of 23.36 seconds. Prior to Conteh's heat, Worrell, followed by Best, finished 1st and 2nd in their heat which placed them 37th and 41st respectively overall.
- Mason returned later in the day to compete in the Men's open 400m and won his heat. He placed 18th overall.
- Conteh, Quomony, Best, and Worrell all competed in the open 100m prior to the 200m. The sprints group finished 1st-4th in their heat and finished 24th, 26th, 32nd, and 39th respectively overall.
- C.J. Rogers (Delran, N.J.) finished 2nd in his heat and 17th overall in the 800m.
On The Field
- Quomony finished 10th in the long jump leaping 19 ft ½ an inch.
- Robert Burns (Copake, N.Y.) and Quwayne Lawrence (New Britain, Conn.), had a very productive day of throwing, competing in the Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin events.
- The best performance from the duo came from Burns who finished 8th overall in Javelin with a mark of 139 ft 6 inches. In addition, he placed 12th in the Shot Put and 32nd in the Discus.
- Meanwhile, Lawrence finished 22nd in the Shot Put, 31st in the Javelin, and 34th in the Discus.
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
The Men will travel to Utica to compete in the Utica Pioneer Spring Invitational at Utica's Pioneer Turf and Track and Field Complex. The competition begins Friday April 7th and concludes on Saturday April 8th.
