HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The Hartwick Women's Indoor Track and Field Team opened up their 2024-25 campaign, competing at the Houghton December Classic, hosted by Houghton University.

The Hawks began their afternoon with the 5000 meter race, Julia Weinschreider ( Williamson, N.Y.) was the first Hawk across the finish line in her first collegiate indoor track event, coming in at 20 minutes and 43 seconds. Brynita Haas (Red Creek, N.Y.) followed closely behind Weinschreider, clocking in at 20 minutes and 47 seconds as both earned qualifying marks for the Empire 8 Championships.

Ty'Niyah Holley (North Royalton, Ohio) posted a strong debut, qualifying for the 60 meter hurdle final, after finishing eight in the first round with a time of 10.55 seconds. Holley placed sixth in the final, timing in at 10.20 seconds. Ty'Niyah's performance notched her an E8 qualifying mark.

Sanei Miller (Akron, Ohio) was stellar in her debut,placing eighth in the 60 meter, clocking in at 8.41 seconds, earning a spot in the finals.Â

Addison Shank (Emmaus, Pa.) kept the first years rolling with a solid performance in the mile run, timing in at six minutes and 56 seconds.

Miller followed it up by placing fourth in the 200 meter with a time of 28.35 seconds, collecting E8 qualifying marks in both the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter event. Holley placed tenth in the 200 meter, clocking in at 29.40 seconds.

Atti Dinsmore (Burkburnett, Tex.) scored 4.16 in the long jump event to kick off field events for the Hawks.

First Years Iona Stum (Oreland, Pa.) and Cora Zahn (Queensbury, N.Y.) represented the Hawks in the shot put. Stum posted a 6.95 score while Zahn scored 5.09 in the event. Stum also competed in the weight throw, scoring 6.14.

The women capped off their night with the 4x200 medley relay. Maiya King (Morris, N.Y.), Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, N.Y.), Miller and Holley were just edged out by SUNY Brockport's relay squad by .26 seconds, posting a final time of two minutes and .39 seconds for fifth place.

The Hawks will have a break in their schedule before they head to Cornell University to compete in the Southern Tier Invite on January 11th at 11AM.
