Indoor Track Wraps Up Regular Season with Strong Performance at Utica

UTICA, N.Y. - The Hartwick Indoor Track and Field program wrapped up their regular season with a strong performance at the Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hawks began their afternoon on a high note as Brynita Haas (Red Creek, N.Y.) and Julia Weinschreider (Williamson, N.Y.) blazed through the Women's 5000 meter event, taking second and third place respectively.

  • Luca Montesano (Coram, N.Y.) opened up competition for the Men with a 12th place finish in the Men's 60 meter hurdles, clocking in at 9.16 seconds.

  • Corey Quomony (Aberdeen, Md.) kept the Hawks rolling with a 7.39 second finish in the 60 meter race, finishing in the top 25 out of 60 racers.

  • Hartwick kept improving throughout the course of the meet, Addison Shank (Emmaus, Pa.) represented the Hawks in the 800 meter, posting a finishing mark of two minutes and 55 seconds.

  • The Men completed the first medley of the afternoon as Larry McCumiskey (Delhi, N.Y.), Will Mensah (Cliffwood, N.J.),  Kevin Cando (Liberty, N.Y.), and Devon Spalding (Mineola, N.Y.)  combining for a 12 minute and ten second finish in the distance medley.

  • Marquis Jones-McKinney (Astoria, N.Y.) continues to post strong efforts in the high jump event, taking fourth place with a score of 1.77.

  • Maiya King (Morris, N.Y.) got field events for the Women underway, placing 11th in the long jump, scoring 4.48.

  • The Women capped off their day with Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, N.Y.), Iona Stum (Oreland, Pa.) and Cora Zahn (Queensbury, N.Y.) posting great marks in the Weight Throw and Shot Put events. Wall took ninth in the shot put event, competing amongst 37 other throwers, scoring 10.10.

  • Noah Curtis (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) was the top finisher in the weight throw, scoring 11.24. Joseph Fay (Walton, N.Y.)  led the Hawks in the shot put event, scoring 9.28. Clyde Solide (Lynbrook, N.Y.) followed tightly, scoring 9.27.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS

The Hawks will prepare for the 2024-25 Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships, beginning on Friday, February 28th at 3PM.
