Troy, NY- The Hartwick Women's Outdoor Track & Field team was in action today for the Capital District Classic. The meet was hosted by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at the Ned Harkness Field & Track. The women's team finished ninth in team scoring.
Junior
Ashtyn Allen (Athens, PA/Athens) finished sixth in javelin with a mark of 26.51 meters. Allen also finished twentieth in discus with a toss of 19.39 meters.
Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, NY/Onteora) finished fourteenth in the discus with a season best mark of 25.29 meters. Wall also finished twelfth in the 400m intermediate hurdles in a new personal best time of 1:24.70 and tenth in 100m hurdles with a time of 18.86. Freshman
Maddy Smith (Edmeston, NY/Edmeston) finished eighth in the 5000m with a time of 21:22.84.
Senior
Vandia Williams (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Andrews International School) finished thirteenth in the 100m dash in a season best time of 14.02. Freshman
Estianna Merchant (Bronx, NY/Women's Academy of Excellence) finished third in the high jump with a jump of 1.33 meters. Freshman
Sophie Ridgway (Albany, NY/Bethlehem) finished ninth in the 3000m steeplechase with a season best time of 14:53.49. Sophomore
Sophia Kehr (Charlotte, VT/Charlotte Valley Union) finished tenth in the 5000m with a season best time of 22:34.92.
This was the final meet of the Hawks 2022 outdoor track and field regular season. The Hawks be in action next Friday May 6, for day one of the 2022 Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.
