Troy, NY – The Hartwick Women's Track and Field team traveled to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) a day earlier than expected to compete in the Capital District Classic yesterday afternoon. RPI's Ned Harkness Field & Track was the host spot for this highly competitive event with several teams tuning up for the post-season starting next week. The Hawks joined nine other teams, including a few NCAA Division I and II schools, and would end up finishing 8th totaling up 14 points.
On The Track

Ashley Tricarico (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) finished off her regular season on a high note with her best 400m performance of the season with a time of 1:04.84. Her time placed her 8th in the event bringing in 1 point for the team competition.

Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, N.Y.) started off her busy day finishing 9th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.08 seconds. Her time was a personal best for the season in wind-legal conditions.

In addition to the 400m, Tricarico finished 11th in the 100m and 16th in the 200m to conclude her productive day on the track.

Brynita Haas (Red Creek, N.Y.), Maddy Smith (Oneonta, N.Y.), and Sophie Ridgway (Albany, N.Y.) finished 6th, 10th and 11th respectively in the unseeded section of the 1500m. Smith lowered her personal best time by about 10 seconds and Ridgway lowered her personal best time by nearly 18 seconds.
On The Field

Alyssa Vellenkoop (Altamont, N.Y.) improved upon her season debut from last week in the Pole Vault. Her mark of 7 ft 8 ½ inches placed her 5th in the event and scored 4 points for the Hawks total for the day.

Atti Dinsmore (Burkburnett, Tex.) placed 5th in the Javelin with a new personal best of 75 ft 9 inches. Dinsmore brought in 4 points for the Hawks in the team competition.

Wall would also compete in the Javelin alongside Dinsmore and finish 9th in the event. Her finish would score 1 point towards the Hawks.

Ashley Neier (Whitesboro, N.Y.) came away with a new personal best in the Long Jump with an attempt of 14 ft 11 ¼ inches. Her mark helped the Hawks score 2 points towards their team total.

Dinsmore also competed in the Long Jump and finished 8th in the event to score 1 more point for the Hawks. Dinsmore jumped 13 feet 10 ½ inches.

Wall concluded her busy day with the Shot Put where she finished 8th in the event. Wall scored 1 point with her finish for the team competition.
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
The Hawks will travel to Utica, NY for the Empire 8 Conference Championships. The competition will be hosted at Utica University's Pioneer Turf and Track and Field Complex starting on Friday May 5th and concluding Saturday May 6th.
