Rochester, NY- The Hartwick Women's Outdoor Track & Field team was in action today for day one of the 2022 Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The meet is being hosted by Nazareth College at their Stadium Track and Field complex. The women's team is currently placed sixth in team scoring.
Junior
Ashtyn Allen (Athens, PA/Athens) finished fourth in javelin with a new personal best mark of 27.10 meters. Allen's fourth place finish is the highest individual finish by a Hartwick athlete since the re-establishment of track and field in 2018. Sophomore
Savarrah Sojda (Clinton, NY/Clinton) finished fifteenth in the long jump with a new personal best mark of 4.71 meters.
Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, NY/Onteora) finished fourteenth in the javelin with a toss of 20.40 meters. Wall also finished thirteenth in 100m hurdles with a time of 18.91. Freshman
Maddy Smith (Edmeston, NY/Edmeston) finished eleventh in the 10000m with a time of 45:33.98. Freshman
Sophie Ridgway (Albany, NY/Bethlehem) finished ninth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 14:53.79.
The 4x800m Relay composed of Wall, Senior
Eryn Thompson (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango), Sophomore
Sophia Kehr (Charlotte, VT/Charlotte Valley Union), and Ridgway finished fifth in a time of 12:49.68.

The Hawks will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday May 7, for the final day of the 2022 Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.
