Women's Outdoor Track and Field | 5/7/2022 8:25:00 PM

Rochester, NY- The Hartwick Women's Outdoor Track & Field team was in action today for the final day of the 2022 Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The meet is being hosted by Nazareth College at their Stadium Track and Field complex. The womens team placed sixth in team scoring.

Sophomore Savarrah Sojda (Clinton, NY/Clinton) finished seventh in the triple jump with a new personal best mark of 10.58 meters. Freshman Maddy Smith (Edmeston, NY/Edmeston) finished fifteenth in the 5000m with a time of 21:17.18.

Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, NY/Onteora) finished eleventh in the shot put with a throw of 8.54 meters. Wall also finished twelfth in discus with a toss of 24.49 meters. Sophomore Sophia Kehr (Charlotte, VT/Charlotte Valley Union) finished eighteenth in the 5000m with a time of 23:10.24. Junior Ashtyn Allen (Athens, PA/Athens) finished sixteenth in discus with a mark of 17.27 meters. Wall and Freshman Estianna Merchant (Bronx, NY/Women's Academy of Excellence) competed in the high jump.

The 4x100m Relay composed of Senior Vandia Williams (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Andrews International School), Ashley Neier (Whitesboro, NY/Clinton), Sojda, and Wall finished fifth with a season best time of 54.43. The 4x400m Relay composed of Wall, Freshman Sophie Ridgway (Albany, NY/Bethlehem), Senior Eryn Thompson (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango), and Williams finished sixth in a season best time of 5:00.36.

Today meet marks the end of the 2022 Outdoor Track and Field Season. The Hawks will return next fall for the 2022 cross country season.
