Weinschreider Shatters Steeplechase Record as Track & Field Opens E8 Championship

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Hartwick Outdoor Track and Field began their championship quest on Day One of the Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by SUNY Brockport.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW - Women's Recap

  • Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, N.Y.) set the Hawks on the right path, setting a new personal record of 113 feet and eight inches in the hammer throw event to open up the day.

  • Pepita Graham (Schenectady, N.Y.) represented the Royal Blue and White in the opening track event, setting a personal best of 13.18 seconds in the 100 meter dash.

  • Julia Weinschreider (Williamson, N.Y.) continues to have a stellar season, shattering the college record set by herself once again, shaving off two seconds, clocking in at 12 minutes and 41 seconds.

  • Molly Corbett (Kings Park, N.Y.) wrapped up Day One for the women, collecting a season best in the 100 meter hurdles event with a finish of 18.08 seconds.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW - Men's Recap

  • First Year standout Cody Bazemore (Bel Air, Md.) made a statement in his championship debut, taking a spot on the podium in the long jump event. Bazemore secured All-Conference honors, posting a final marking of 22 feet, placing third.

  • Patrick Conteh (Salisbury, Md.) barreled his way through the 400 meter event, posting a lifetime personal best of 51.68 seconds.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS

The Hawks will return to SUNY Brockport for the final day of the Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, decathlon events will mark the start of Day Two at 10AM.
