Indoor Track and Field Impresses at Cornell's Southern Tier Invite


ITHACA, N.Y. - The Hartwick Indoor Track and Field program competed in the Cornell Southern Tier Invite, opening the early season with a statement.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hawks began their afternoon in grand fashion asCody Bazemore (Bel Air, Md.) set a new program record in the 60 meter, clocking in at 7.14 seconds.

  • Devon Spalding (Mineola, N.Y.) led the Royal Blue and White in the mile event, clocking in at five minutes and ten seconds.

  • Will Mensah (Cliffwood, N.J.) and Luca Montesano (Coram, N.Y.) competed in the 600 meter race, Mensah pulled in at 56.98 seconds and Montesano finished a step behind at 57.44 seconds.

  • Bazemore kept rolling, finishing the 200 meter at a blistering pace, posting a final mark of 23.45 seconds.

  • Hartwick continued to up the momentum as Larry McCumiskey (Delhi, N.Y.) was the first Empire 8 runner to cross the finish line in the 3000 meter, timing in at 11 minutes and ten seconds.

  • Noah Curtis (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) led the Hawks in throwing events, posting a 9.65 score in shot put and 9.20 in weight throw.

  • Bazemore ended his stellar day with a 5th place finish in the long jump, posting a score of 6.36.

  • Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, N.Y.) was the lone Hawk competing in the 60 meter dash, clocking in at 9.12 seconds.

  • Julia Weinschreider (Williamson, N.Y.) continues her upward trend in her debut year, completing the mile event in six minutes and four seconds.

  • Weinschreider represented the Hawks in their final race of the evening, breezing through the 3000m with a time of 12:12.99.

  • Maiya King (Morris, N.Y.) led the way in the long jump, posting a score of 4.00

  • Wall led the Hawks in shot put to end field events, posting a strong score of 8.93.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS

The Hawks will head back to Cornell University to compete in the Upstate Challenge Invite on January 18th at 11AM.
