Hartwick College Athletics

Betty Powell '82 has been an integral part of Hartwick's Department of Athletics since 1969, spanning four decades.

Throughout her 40 years of tireless and selfless service in a myriad of positions and committees, Powell has been the backbone of the Department of Athletics.

A 1982 Hartwick graduate, Powell earned her bachelor's degree in Business Management, graduating summa cum laude. She served as the Assistant Director of Athletics from 1989-2003, before becoming Hartwick's acting Director of Athletics for two years, from 2003 through 2005, overseeing all aspects of 'Wick's varsity sports.

Powell has served as Associate Athletic Director for the past four years. She has been the College's senior woman administrator for the past 20 years, and has also served as the Athletics Operations Manager and Administrative Assistant to the Director of Athletics and Chair of Physical Education.

Her commitment, work ethic, and passion for Hartwick College, its Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the thousands of student-athletes through the years have been exemplary and inspirational to all who know her.
