Tom Barbur helped set the standards by which basketball players at Hartwick College are measured. He graduated as the school's all-time leading scorer in basketball, with 1,178 points, and ranked 14th all-time in scoring at Hartwick at the time of induction.
 
Barbur set a school record by scoring 42 points in the final game of his collegiate career. He captained the basketball team his senior year.
 
During his junior year, Barbur ranked among the top free-throw shooters in the nation. He also played baseball and ran track at Hartwick.
 
Barbur went on to play basketball at Fort Monmouth with and against a variety of NBA players.
