Hartwick College Athletics

Burns played four years of soccer at Hartwick. He went on to play for the US National Team and was a member of the 1994 US World Cup team.

Burns played for the 1992 US Olympic team and was a team captain for one game.

In 1993 he was the captain for the U.S. World University games team. Burns also played for the 1991 gold-medal-winning Pan-American Games team.

He twice earned All-American honors at Hartwick, in 1990 and 1991.
