Katie Stanton, the 1996-97 Empire Athletic Association Player of the Year, was a four-year starter on the women's basketball team from 1993-97. She led the Hawks to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 1995-97, and helped the squad register a 75-33 record during her varsity career.

A two-time Eastern College Athletic Conference all-star, Stanton received first-team all-conference honors after her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She was honored as the Empire Athletic Association Rookie of the Year and received second-team all-conference honors as a freshman, when she averaged 18.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

Stanton led the team in scoring in all four of her seasons and paced the squad in rebounding three times. She captained the team as a senior and helped the squad win the 1997 New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association Championship.

A shooting guard and small forward, Stanton graduated as the school-record holder in career free throws (462) and free throws in a season (140 in 1994-95). In addition, she was ranked second all-time in career points (1,738), second in career steals (266), and sixth in career rebounds (843).

At the time of induction, she held the same ranking in each of those statistical categories. Her 37 points in a game against Elmira in 1994 rank in a tie for second on the all-time list at Hartwick.

Stanton averaged 17.1 points and 8.0 rebounds as a sophomore, and contributed 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a junior. She averaged 15.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game as a senior.
